The v Awards: recognition for the amazing things you do

v, the volunteering organisation behind vinspired.com, is introducing a new recognition scheme for volunteers aged 16 to 25. The v Awards celebrate the efforts and achievements of volunteers aged 16-25 in England and recognise the amazing things you do.

Currently the v Awards are only available to young people who are volunteering in projects that receive funding from v. However, all young volunteers will be able to access these awards on line in January 2009.

v Big Thank You Certificate
If you volunteer with a v funded project you could receive a thank you certificate which recognises that you have given your time to make a difference in your community.

The v50 Award
The v50 Award is available to volunteers who complete 50 hours of volunteering in any twelve-month period (or less). It’s designed to recognise and celebrate the time and effort you have invested, and to show colleges, universities and potential employers the positive impact you’ve had on your community. To receive a v50 Award you will need to complete a log book, and collect evidence (e.g. certificates, photos, posters, letters, newspaper coverage etc) in a folder.

The vImpact Award
The vImpact Award is available to volunteers that have already completed the v50 Award and are keen to take on a new challenge. It’s all about making an impact. Making a difference. Changing the world. And changing yourself for the better.

The vImpact award is designed to recognise and celebrate the time and effort you have spent volunteering, and to enable you to explain to friends, colleges, universities and potential employers:
  • The positive difference or impact you have made through your volunteering.
  • The skills you have developed and gained through your volunteering experiences.
To receive the vImpact Award you will need to complete The vImpact Award booklet. This booklet is broken down into 6 Steps. Each Step asks you to complete certain tasks or exercises, to help you work towards your vImpact award. You'll need to complete each step fully to apply for your vImpact Award.

The vImpact Award support booklet
This booklet is designed to help you complete each step of the vImpact Award. It contains different exercises to start your thinking, including ideas of questions you might like to ask when speaking to others and case studies to show how to fill out different sections of your vImpact booklet. You do not have to use this booklet to complete the vImpact award, it's completely optional.
