My Space, Our Space!

My Space Our Space Do you want to get fit without going to the gym? Do you want to make your local area more eco-friendly and more people-friendly? Do you want to help prove that young people can do good things in the community?
Well, BTCV, the country’s leading practical conservation charity has set up 18 projects across the country that can help you do exactly this!

Each project is working on a specific site across England, converting them into cleaner, greener spaces where you can hang out. They are doing this is in all sorts of different ways, depending on the project. For example, you could be learning how to grow your own plants and develop gardens in Wigan, creating a forest garden where everything is edible, learning to mountain bike in Sheffield or building a boardwalk in Norwich. Jamie helped to create a nature trail and woodland glade in Sussex. "I learnt how to use a winch for pulling out tree stumps I had an extremely good time working hard, my role for the day was to work as a team and clear the woods."

To find out where you local project is based and what exactly they are doing just log onto the BTCV website and have a cheeky peek. There are already over 600 volunteers already involved so it is a great opportunity to meet people in your local area while also learning new skills.

The programme is backed by The Veolia Trust, v and The John Laing Charitable Trust.
